GARLIC KNOTS

One of my weaknesses is garlic parmesan bread bites from Domino's. I could order a whole 32-count bag and devour it by myself. The reason I know this? I might have done it before...and gotten a massive stomach ache in result.
Anyway...
When a craving for those bread bites hits, I have started to make this recipe for garlic knots. I got the idea from a pin on Pinterest. In my opinion, they are even BETTER than Domino's. Another great thing about making food like this at home is that it's much more economical, not to mention loads healthier. You control the quality and amount of ingredients.
And just to make them even more amazing, the recipe is so EASY. Seriously. Try it, you'll be hooked.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups warm water (between 105 and 115 degrees)
2 tablespoons sugar
1 packet yeast
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
1/2 cup butter
olive oil
salt and pepper
handful parsley, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup parm cheese, shredded

Directions

In the bowl of a stand mixer, mix together water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to let the yeast bloom.

Add flour, salt, and seasoning and mix with the dough hook of your stand mixer until well incorporated. Cover with a kitchen towel and let sit and rise for 15 minutes up to 2 hours.

On a floured surface, roll out your dough with a rolling pin to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into long, thin strips, and then roll the strips in your hands to make them look like ropes.

Tie each "rope" into a knot and tuck the ends under. (There is no right way to do this, just have fun. As a variation, you could skip this step and make regular sized buns instead of knots--just simply roll small balls of dough instead.)

Place the knots on a greased baking sheet, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise for another 10 minutes to an hour. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 400.

Bake the knots for about 15-20 minutes, until nice and puffy and slightly golden.

While the knots are baking, melt the butter with a drizzle of olive oil in a saucepan over low heat. Add the salt and pepper, parsley, and garlic and let slowly cook until knots are out of the oven.

As soon as the knots are out of the oven, brush or spoon the butter mixture on top. Sprinkle with parm cheese and serve warm... try not to eat the entire pan! You'll want more tomorrow!

Below is the variation making buns instead of knots...equally delicious!

Thanks for reading...now go start baking!
